Privacy Policy

We’re an affiliate review site. We don’t run any pokies rooms, we don’t take deposits, and we never see the money that moves between you and an operator. This page covers what data we collect when you visit, why we hold it, and how to ask us to remove it.

Who we are

The site is run by a small editorial team led by Hayden Fletcher, Melbourne-based. All reviews and rankings are ours. We don’t host user comments, so nothing you send us appears publicly on the site.

What we collect

Every page view leaves standard server-log data: your IP, timestamp, requested URL, referring page, and browser user-agent. These logs stay on our host for 30 days and then rotate out. We use them to spot broken pages and block clearly abusive traffic.

Click an affiliate link to one of the pokies brands we review, and the click is tracked on our side. We see where it came from and whether it turned into a sign-up on the operator’s end. We never see your deposit amount, your gameplay, your PayID details, or your name. That data stays with the operator.

We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation turned on. GA4 drops a first-party cookie so we can count returning visits and tell which articles get read all the way through. The data is aggregated: “132 users read this page this week,” not individual identities.

Cookies

  • _ga, _ga_XXXXX (Google Analytics): session and user identifiers, 2-year expiry.
  • wp-settings (WordPress core): remembers editor UI settings; irrelevant to normal visitors.
  • affiliate_click_id (ours, first-party): short random string set when you click an outbound affiliate link, so paying partners can confirm the click came from our site. 30-day expiry, no personal info inside.

Delete any of them from your browser settings any time. The site works fine without them.

Your rights under the Privacy Act 1988

Under the Australian Privacy Principles (Privacy Act 1988), you can ask us what personal information we hold on you, request a correction, or request deletion. In practice, most of what we hold is anonymous: an IP address and a click ID with no name attached. But if you’ve ever emailed us, that email thread sits in our inbox and we’ll delete it on request within 30 days.

Complaints about how we’ve handled your data can also go to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Data retention

Server logs: 30 days. Google Analytics: 14 months, after which GA auto-deletes. Affiliate click records: 90 days, long enough to reconcile commissions with our partners.

Minors

Our content is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian discovers that a minor has contacted us, email us and we’ll delete the thread.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle data, we update this page and bump the date below. Minor edits (fixing a typo, naming a cookie we already use) go in silently.

Deletion requests, corrections, or privacy questions: contact page.
